Camping

You’ll get to spend quality time with your friends and family all while enjoying Mother Nature, just don’t forget the bug spray!

Go to the beach

You may not know it, but some of the lakes around Lincoln have some great beach areas to hang out and relax on. Branched Oak and Wagon Train are just minutes from Lincoln and offer swimming beaches, many of which allow pets. Even if it’s still a little too cold to get in the water, a trip to the beach is still a nice way to spend a day out at the lake and let the kids play in the sand.

Bike rides

Lincoln has miles and miles of bike paths throughout the city. Chances are there is one that goes right through your neighborhood! Going on a bike ride can be a great way to explore new parts of the city you wouldn’t normally see.

Hiking

Many of the parks around Lincoln and the surrounding area have trails to go hiking. Between Mahoney State Park, Platte River State Park, Pioneers Park, and more, there are tons of hiking trails to explore, and you might even see some native wildlife!

Start a garden

Have you always wanted to eat organically but don’t want to pay the higher prices at the grocery store? Start your own garden! Even if you just grow a few things like peppers or broccoli, you’ll love knowing that you’re eating something you grew yourself. The best part? Most often, home gardening is easier than you think! Gardens can also be a great way to teach your kids responsibility if you put them in charge of watering it.

Mini golfing

Get into the competitive spirit and get everyone outside with a round of miniature golf. A trip to the mini-golf is a simple, cost-effective family night!
